Karogoto is a cooperative wet mill near Karatina in Nyeri County, one of Kenya’s most highly regarded coffee regions. It is one of four mills operated by the Tekangu Farmers’ Cooperative Society, supporting 1,054 smallholder farmers, including 421 women producers, who deliver ripe cherries from small family plots.

Nyeri’s cool climate and fertile highlands allow coffee to mature slowly, producing the dense, high-quality beans the region is famous for. The main harvest runs from October to December, sometimes extending into January in cooler years.

Cherries at Karogoto are sorted by flotation, pulped, and fermented in fresh water for 8–10 hours before being washed and dried slowly on African raised beds for two to three weeks. This careful washed process highlights the clarity and quality for which Nyeri coffees are celebrated.
